Skull Guy is an in development game for the NES. More details to come soon.

Skull Guy is a compact retro platformer about threading your way through deadly rooms, grabbing the key, and escaping before time runs out. You play as a bony little hero navigating ladders, spikes, fire, launchers, and a growing cast of strange enemies like the shambling Gremblin, the lurking Droopit, and the drifting Blubberfly. Each room is a tight arcade-style puzzle where movement, timing, and quick decisions matter.

The twist is your temporary block ability. You can place blocks to help cross gaps, make cover, climb to safety, or outsmart hazards and enemies. That makes each stage feel like a mix of platforming and improvisation, especially when a Droopit is hanging overhead or a Blubberfly is floating into your path.

Controls

  • Left / Right: Move
  • Up / Down: Climb ladders
  • A: Jump
  • B: Place temporary block
  • Down + B: Try to place a block one tile lower
  • Down: Crouch
  • Enter or Start: Start the game

Goal

  • Reach the key
  • Unlock and enter the door
  • Avoid enemies, spikes, fire, and projectiles
  • Beat the clock and clear the stage

This is an in-progress build, and some content is still unfinished or unpolished. You may run into stages, interactions, or difficulty spikes that are not fully tuned yet.
